Frequently Asked Questions

 FAQs

Q: When are you launching in my city?

A: Soon! But just to be sure, let us know where you’re located here and check back on our site and social media to find out when we are rolling out in your area.

Q: What if my favorite non-profit isn’t partnering with Poze yet?

A: Our goal at Poze is to do the most good in the community, and we want to help fund as many deserving non-profit organizations as possible. With that in mind, if you know of a group that we aren’t partnering with yet or you don’t see the information of your favorite cause included on the app please let us know here and we will reach out.

Q: How does the app work?

A: Users pay a monthly subscription fee in order to participate in the charity date auction process. Subscriptions start at $9.99 per month, and allow users to both poze dates on the app as well as bid on other user’s dates.

Q: How much money goes to the charity?

A: Donations to the non-profit selected by the Pozer are the complete bid amount (minus a processing fee by our transaction processing partner). The winning bid amount is collected after the end of the auction time period via Stripe payment and is forwarded from Poze to the charity.

Q: Does the highest bidder always win?

A: No. At the end of each auction time frame, the Pozer will be presented with the top five bidders (but will only see their profiles and will not know how much they bid on the date). At that point, the Pozer will be able to view the bidders’ profiles and initiate conversation through in-app messaging technology. Once a Pozer has decided who to take on the date, the winner of the auction will be notified as well as the runners-up. The bid amount of the person chosen as the winner is then donated to the nonprofit of the Pozer’s choice.

Q: How long do I have to choose the winner after the end of the auction?

A: Once the time frame for the auction has expired, and the Pozer is presented with the profiles of the top 5 bidders, there is a 48 hour period when the Pozer can message the contenders and view their profiles before a decision needs to be made about who is the winner.

Q: Who pays for the date?

A: Well, that’s entirely up to you, but our recommendation is that the Pozer pay for the date (drinks, meals, or tickets) because their date already donated funds to charity.

Q: What if the date never happens?

A: If something comes up, or for some reason the date never happens, each of the subscribers will need to independently verify that through the Poze app. Once that process is complete, the bid amount will be returned to the bidder.

Q: Is a charity date auction ethical?

A: There are a few key differences between our concept of charity date auctions and those from the past that you may be thinking of.

First, all of our auctions are based on bidding on a date, not bidding on a person. When you decide that someone who has Pozed a date interests you and the activity they have propozed sounds like fun, you are donating to charity in order to go out on the date.

Another differentiating factor is that all of our auctions are based on a blind bid structure. If you bid on a date, you will have no idea how much anyone else is bidding, you will simply be placing a bid for the amount that you would give to a very deserving cause if you were able to go on the date propozed.

Finally, the Pozer gets to pick the person they would most like to go out with, not necessarily the highest bidder. They can choose whichever bidder they think they have the most in common with or are most interested in dating, and aren’t forced to go on a date with the person who is willing to spend the most money.

We are certainly sensitive to the idea that buying people is a horrible practice that has a long and terrible history in this country. We are not trying to perpetuate outdated, misogynistic and gross practices. The opposite in fact, we want to create a dating platform that promotes true connection, and contributes funding to incredible causes that exist in the world. Take a chance, try it out, maybe you’ll find your future love or at the very least a charity you care about will get some much needed funds!
